Does the driveshaft turn when AWD is off?

Does anyone know for sure if the driveshaft turns when AWD is off?

I will guess probably as I think the disengage is at the front.
But if you have a smart phone turn on video and place it ibetween tires drive over top of it.

if it's "All Wheel Drive" then it constantly drives all four wheels, all the time. You can't shut it off.

JackT, did you find an answer? I followed that thread, and still don't know for sure. SteveK's thought about videoing it with a smartphone is a good one. I would have thought "yes"... the clutch is attached to the rear diff, true, but I'll bet the trans drives the shaft all the time... the button just prevents the clutch from automatically engaging?
