Hi everyone, I'm Jim from North Carolina.
In April I traded in my 2006 Pontiac Torrent with 285,000 miles on it for a 2024 Chevrolet Equinox LT with 21,000 miles. That's almost true except I had a 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Crossover for about three weeks in between the Torrent and the Equinox.
I'm in my 70s so I don't put on the miles as much as I use to. My wife is wheelchair bound so the rear seat area is used for groceries and shopping while the rear deck holds my wife's wheelchair.
The wheelchair is the main reason the Mitsubishi Eclipse Crossover didn't stay long. The rear deck bed is sunken so the wheelchair has to be lifted over a hump when moving it out and into the bed. The second issue was the wheelchair only fits one way. So the wheelchair has to be rotated 180 degrees while holding it in the air. The final straw was the way the floorboard is laid out my wife had no leg room. Luckily I had a used vehicle dealership that worked me and I didn't lose any money with the second trade.
The 2024 Equinox is similar to the Pontiac Torrent but with most of the present day safety bells & whistles. I have a copy of the window sticker that lists all the options.
The more I drive it the more I like it. I'm constantly skimming through the Quick Reference and Owner Manual to match what they say to reality. I was telling my daughter a few days ago there is a world of difference between reading about advances in magazines, online or in the manuals versus actually having them available for use and seeing them in action.
