Does Manual mode show the exact gears the transmission is in? I read the owners manual, it didnt mention it. It said for example, that L5 would limit shifting to 1-5 automaticly. Didnt say on actual gear display. Pulling out in L5, does it stay or switch to L1, then blinking D to L1-D-L1-D-L1?

"The shift position indicator in DIC will have a number beside L indicating highest available gear under manual mode and the driving conditions when manual mode was selected" Thats from the manual.

Pulling out in L5, does it switch to L1 then L2 then L3 then L4 then L5? Or does it only show L5 in DIC while driving in Manual mode? Also what about the blinking D and L#s?

See if this helps you get a better understanding. I have a 2025 Eq. (economy model [LT without the letters "LT"]).
In mine, it has the "Almost a Transmission" "variable torque", sort-of-like a Snow Machine with some gears. The Manual shift set-up, allows the driver to "hold back" or interfere with the shift sequence, as when towing a trailer or Racing. Thus, when climbing hills, a driver may wish to prevent up-shifting to maintain a constant speed as sometimes it will up-shift and start to slow down then down-shift to try to maintain speed. This gets a bit jerky, EVEN-THOUGH, the Constant Velocity tries to overcome that.
Using the Manual shift for down-shifting or slowing down, attempting to prevent your speed from "getting away from you" and saving your brakes from overheating and failing, this, when going downhill, by the gear displayed on the console.
That said, Yes, when pulling out in L5, the cars goes thru the gears and won't shift higher than L5. Be careful of the engine RPM's.
The blinking D and L in mine seems to suggest to go to the other mode.

NOTE: about towing.... Most Owner Manuals, including mine, shows how much you can tow. be sure to consider the Maximum weight of: vehicle, AND passengers, AND trailer.
My Manual seems to show a conflict between it and the door panel. But, that could be just my interpretation.

My suggestion would be: NOT to tow anything that weighs more than a person could pull across or up and down a driveway. The engine and transmission just won't take it.
the "Constant Velocity Transmission" is great for assisting with the Theory of saving gas ( I'm happy with my gas Mileage ) but, it won't take shifting to drive without coming to a complete stop first, when backing up. And towing more than you can pick-up and carry.
I will promise: When a mechanic or shop looks at the parts, it will be determined that failure was due to driver misuse. Warranty Void! ...... CHA-CHING, CHA-CHING, CHA-CHING, CHA-CHING, and a few more CHA-CHINGS on top of that!
But still, I'm pretty happy with My Equinox.
