Was there any cross traffic that hadn't quite fully passed through the intersection?
Sometimes I will begin my roll through at an uncontrolled busy four lane intersection, hesitantly at first, because there is still one final car in the furthest lane, that I need to wait for it to pass by. I time it by using the accelerator gently, so I can cross over the first few lanes, and then safely pass behind the final car, before I can step on it and clear the intersection completely, (before the traffic becomes heavy again).
I'm pretty sure I'm not the only experienced driver that has used this method to cross a busy intersection. Driving in busy city traffic you could otherwise sit waiting for the perfect gap in cross traffic, forever.
This is where a human brain can understand exactly what the safe plan is, and the perfect timing of it's execution, but a computer may not fathom what is actually taking place.
So with the accident avoidance system on the 2025 Nox, would the engine continue to rev up as the brake was being applied automatically, as it sensed that final vehicle was coming, and could be a danger?
I've never experienced the computer's safety braking before. I know the brakes will apply automatically but are the engine rpms controlled as well? Does the tranny goes into neutral as part of the accident avoidance feature?
It worries me a bit, as there are times where an accident can be avoided by actually accelerating quickly.
