I have purchased 2 different dashboard cameras both of which turn off after a few minutes. Is this a common problem? Or is it because of something wrong with the cigarette lighter outlet that powers them?

2018 LT 2.0 litre FWDThey turn off while the engine is running?
What model year and exact model of Equinox or Terrain do you have?
Thank you. I was hoping to avoid going direct.I have dashboard camera, front and rear. Wired directly to fuse panel. They go to sleep with car not running as voltage drops, my choice of wiring. That being said plug something else into the lighter and see if it reacts the same way. Without knowing more info its hard to say. Mine is a 2018 and I do know that at certain times while driving, depending on a lot of factors, my charge voltage drops way down to 12.8 give or take. Thats normal as the car computer charges differently than on old systems
And yes, while the engine is running.2018 LT 2.0 litre FWD
My 25 has no cigarette lighter up front so I bought a converter. My screen stays on most of the time but I can't really see it behind the mirror. Even if the screen is not lit it's still always recording. I pull the chip once in a while and run it on my computer to verify the quality. I've only had one fender bender and believe it or not my chip wasn't working when I needed it.Thank you. I was hoping to avoid going direct.
By "always running" I mean while the car is in accessory or running. My 25 has no cigarette lighter up front so I bought a converter. That's another story.
