I think I ran into this before when I disassembled the dash board, but after replacing a heater core I reassembled the dashboard and the brake light would stay on. I could get it to switch off if I moved the arm on the switch so it was against the rear of the stud on the brake pedal (instead of with one prong on each side) but then after a few seconds sitting there the brake light would come back on.
This cleared up after a brake switch recalibration, but it wouldn't calibrate with the arm of the switch positioned with the stud between the two fingers of the arm. Only with the arm completely behind the stud.
It works, so I could just leave it as is, but did something get misassembled? Any ideas?
