Ive been frustrated for a week trying to get my '18 equinox started. A dumbass AAA tech attempted to Jumpstart my car and by attaching the negative cable directly to my battery terminal caused my battery to smoke and my alternator too. The jumper sent an overcharge to the alternator and fried it. I replaced both the battery and alternator and neither fixed my car. I've checked all fuses and relays my fuel pump works yet no starting. One thing I noticed though is my brake pedal is hard to press and its never been like this. I need to know where the brake pedal positioning sensor is and how it should be how to check it or fix it. Anyone know about this and can you help me

Your brake pedal is hard from multiple attempts pressing the pedal to start. Have you had a real 4 code diagnostic check? I doubt it is a brake sensor issue.

I have not had a code check but ive done everything from new battery alternator starter and checked all fuses and relays but I noticed I my fuse box under the hood that I am missing several fuses where a fuse should be not the empty slots.

So basically after further indepth troubleshooting ive cone to the root of my crank-no start-no run problem. Idk if I mentioned what started my equinox malfunctioning but a quick recap goes like this. I was at the park literally to my radio for about an hour and might drain my battery, so I called triple-a and I ordered a battery jump service roadside, and what happened is when the when the service tick showed up, he applied the negative term negative cable to my negative terminal on my battery, as we all know. You're not supposed to do that on the Equinox. You're supposed to use the ground stud that for to apply the negative terminal to that being said when I try to start my car after the tech assured me over and over again that nothing would be happening. My negative terminal started to smoke, my alternator started to smoke. My battery post was hot while during that time during that old Get down what happened is he burned my battery current sensor and now that's the problem.I have to replace it. After\nContacting AAA and filing a complaint for damages, they are not accepting the responsibility for the damages, and they are projecting their faults off onto the towing company that they contract with. It's called California coach towing, who they are also not accepting their responsibility because the service tech insisted that the jumper box would not send an overcharge through my battery, but evidence now says otherwise so I will be going after them. I've been on work for 23 days I've missed 2 jobs for so much money already.I get paid Uber $45 an hour, and I really need to get this going. So I found the battery current sensor on amazon for twenty dollars and I'll be replacing it as soon as it gets here

Your diagnosis may be in error and having, at least, a code scan done by a shop, not an auto parts store, is recommended. Best of luck!
EDIT to Add: Parts from Amazon are just going to invite more trouble.

I don't think you ever said was whether the car got started successfully after the jump start attempt. Did it start?

If so, when did these problems start?

... and I ordered a battery jump service roadside, and what happened is when the when the service tick showed up, he applied the negative term negative cable to my negative terminal on my battery, as we all know. You're not supposed to do that on the Equinox. You're supposed to use the ground stud that for to apply the negative terminal to that being said when I try to start my car after the tech assured me over and over again that nothing would be happening.
Since ground is ground and since the car battery supplies 100% of the current to start the car normally it makes zero difference electrically.

That procedure is recommended so that the spark caused by connecting the negative cable, which should be done after the positive cable is connected, is away from any explosive gasses from the battery venting. That probably was more likely prior to the AGM batteries the 2018 and later Equinox have, though. Also, connecting to the frame ground point helps assure that a bad battery negative cable is effectively bypassed.

But if the connections are clean and tight and there is no accumulated hydrogen gas it makes zero difference electrically. Remember, the car has no idea at all whether the car battery is supplying the power or the jumper cables are. All a jump start does is provide 12 volts DC to supplement the power normally supplied by the car battery.

Nevertheless , the Owners Manual says to use the stud.

The symptoms you noted, a hot battery post, a smoking alternator, and a failed battery current sensor do not make sense for what you reported as the cause.

It actually sounds like the service tech reversed the cables, putting red on the negative post and black on the positive post.

Or he used a higher voltage than he was supposed to.

Did he actually use jumper cables or a lithium jump battery? 'Cause many lithium jump batteries do not have anywhere near the length of cable needed to reach across the engine.

Do you remember which color cable they had on which post?
