When I shut off car I can’t turn key to lock position. Been told it’s solenoid inside column for lock? You remove plastic shroud and solenoid has white plunger. You can remove a trim piece to stick a probe in to push plunger. Or replace solenoid. Seems odd.
I think as you approach 20 yr old car parts fail. Like my rke module. Which I’ve changed on 2 cars now.

I had an 05 equinox many years ago was a good car put alot of miles on it . I had an issue where the key could be removed while the ignition was on and vehicle running . There was or recall or a tsb for it don’t really remember but dealer replaced ignition cylinder with the solenoid for Free .

That's an age-old problem with Chevy. My 76 Camaro didn't even need the ket to start it
