why is there no gas cap on 2018 equinox?

Because us americans are getting too lazy to unscrew the gas cap. A lot of vehicles are going to it now as a "convenience" feature. The way the '18 cap is designed however may prove to be problematic in the future. Its placed perfectly for water to drain in the filler neck. Don't know if that will cause problems.

Actually it was because we are too lazy to screw the gas cap back on properly. Too many people showing up at dealerships with the "Check Engine" light on because they hadn't properly tightened the gas cap. :shakehead:
