2010 Check Engine Light

Scanner flags the crankshaft sensor on my 2010 Equinox. Have part, unable to locate on vehicle. Someone said behind starter, looking doesn't look like it's there but can't find anywhere else either. But do I have to take off cataytic converter to remove starter?? Kinda looks that way. This seems a little poorly designed if I need to do that to replace the crankshaft sensor! Any help appreciated.
