Where to purchase a key and FOB

I have 2012 and we had 2 keys since purchased brand new. We have lost one of the keys. My daughter and I share the key, but she keeps it most days. So, who or where can I buy a replacement and have it work. What will be needed to get one. I have heard eBay but how does the key get engraved. Can a vin work if I go to a dealer or a locksmith

For my 2015 Chevy Malibu, I bought a pack of 3 aftermarket FOBS off Amazon for cheap. Only issue was a local locksmith charged me like $35 a piece to cut the key on them though. Said they were something special, yada..yadda.. It was still way cheaper than buying 3 FOBS from him and the $35x3. Programming them was just a matter of cycling the new ones in the ignition. I did that myself. I don't recall the details. There's YouTube videos on it. Almost 3yrs later and these fobs are still working.

If anyone needs a key fob and lives near an ACE Hardware then that's the place to go. For my 2014 Equinox I paid $115 for the fob and the programming. My advice is to let them program it because it's not as simple as you might expect. This was two years ago so it's surely more expensive now but at the time the dealership wanted over $300.
