buying new key case and pad only, 2013

If I purchase two cases & pads, it seems the new cases each come with a key. No electronics.

Beside moving electronics into new cases, can I simply pull the new key out of the new cases and pull the old keys out of its old cases and install the old key into new case, then program?

Why do they give you a new key too?

Swapping the keys isn't the easiest thing I've ever done. On mine, there was a tiny roll pin that went through a slot in the key that held it in place. Holding the case while pushing it out was hard to do and holding everything in the right place while squeezing the pin back in was another problem for me. I finally succeeded though. Good luck!

I bought the case and key (only needed to send my key picture as buyer's instructions) from ebay. Then put my key and electrical board into it. All works, though not perfect as OEM one, but good enough, and much cheaper: around $30.
