I bought a '15 Trax LT AWD with 50K miles in '19. Put on 39 K miles. Traded it recently for a '24 Equinox LT AWD with 45K miles. Equinox seems to be more touchy with the throttle and brakes. There are 2 stations that sell Top Tier fuel. 1 place requires a membership or a special prepaid card to buy That type of fuel. It is about 4 miles away. The other location that sells Top Tier fuel is about 7 miles away. I am not seeing much for stations that sell 87 octane Top Tier fuel. I can get 87 octane all day long in multiple areas. I'd rather avoid a stop at a parts store, or add a purchase at a dealership, for a bottle of fuel additive. The occasional road trip is another story. I am interested in babying this thing as long as I can. All responses welcome. Good, bad, or otherwise.

Great looking vehicle! I think you will get used to the brakes and throttle. When you run lower grade fuel, it will lead to carbon build up. If you want to stick with the lower octane, there are additives that come in gallon jugs for a decent price. I like the Lucas fuel treatment and run it in all of my cars at least once a month. A gallon is $33ish on amazon. You will only use several ounces each fill up.

Welcome! Nice looking 2024. IMO, you did good buying a 2018-2024.

87 octane is perfectly fine for the LYX 1.5 and the LSD 1.5 your 2024 model has. If you can't find top tier, I wouldn't sweat that either. Just go with a good name brand fuel and gas station. I'm sure you have, but there's a website that will tell you which stations have "top tier" fuel per your zip code. The individual pumps may or may not have top tier labels on them.

We don't have a Top Tier station in our town and never had a fuel related problem.
I don't lose any sleep over it.
We do have a BP station and usually fill there.

Thanks for the lead Vern. I have used Lucas Oil treatment in my previous Trax 650 mile 1 way road trips and have decent results. I have seen smaller volume bottles at a NAPA Parts store that's about 2 miles away. I've never considered a gallon jug.
