Hello, I am a mourning (partial sarcasm lol :)) 2014 Charger RT AWD owner after someone floored their gas pedal on a left turn without looking right and totaled my motor baby last Monday. At the body shop, they said the body damage alone was over $10k, and they hadn't removed any panels yet which they guarenteed, there'd be more internal damage. It went to a salvage yard for further assessment and they found there was too much to fix.

I started looking on weds assuming it was done for and found that a 3rd gen Chevy Equinox 2.0 meets my wants, needs, and desires as well as being within my budget.

The muscle car life was fun, but with my kids hitting teenager status soon, the Charger wasn't the most practical vehicle given the tight back seats. The Chequinox (yes, I abbreviated it and that is what I intend to call it lol) checks all of my family boxes and allows me to afford the fully-loaded luxury experience I want to have that I did not have in the muscle car. The 5.2s 0-60 was fun and made up for many of it's faults in "Smiles Per Gallon", but it was missing many creature comforts like leg room and comfortable seats lol.

I look forward to chatting with the community going forward!

Welcome! In my opinion, you really can't go wrong with a 2018-2023 Equinox with the 1.5 or the 2.0. Easy DIY maintenance, pretty durable and reliable. They're a boring jelly bean that seems to be every 5th vehicle on the road, but man are they nice to be in, nice to drive, so easy to get in/out of, great visibility, etc.

I'm not discounting the 2024+. Too new to rate. Most of the posts we see on them are complaints of info/entertainment, HVAC switchgear, lower fuel economy, etc. They're the same as 2018+ in terms of mechanicals, with 2 gears added to the transaxle.

I have a 2018 Premier with the 2.0
The engine and 9 speed transmission has been good for me.
I think in 2019 the cameras were updated to high def and a button was added to disable the start/stop.
The button needs to be pressed at each start up if you want to disable the start/stop.
