Hi All!
Looking for some help on a 05 Equinox with 101,000 miles. We blew an EGR hose, replaced it, ok, problem solved right? Wrong...
CEL stays lit and Temp guage rises to Max in 15-20 seconds, stays there for 20-30 seconds, then falls back to normal, just as quickly as it rose. This especially happens at stop lights, or when not moving, but also does occur while driving. Also noticed the "gurgling" sound in the dash (driver side). Checked and refilled coolant multiple times (thought it may be a air pocket in coolant system) and replaced Thermostat. No change, replaced Temp Sensor. No change. Close to 6 weeks later, and same symptoms:
-Temp rises VERY quickly, 15-20 seconds to MAX. Red Temp light comes on, car wants to shut off.
-Temp rises quickly when not moving, without fail. While driving, temp does rise occasionally, but not consistently.
-Topped off coolant multiple times, and still have gurgling in dash.
-No coolant in oil, no white exhaust, no smell of coolant in car.
-Heater blows hot, A/C blows cold.
Any ideas? Scared to take it to shop, as they will automatically say its a head gasket, when it could be something else. Car runs fine, no loss of power at all.
