OK, so I have had the 2026 Activ for about 5 months now. Yes, it has some nice features but those can be had on other vehicles as well so not a factor
in why I'm slowly coming to the end of my rope with this car.
The other day and many before that, the lack of take-off power in this thing has almost gotten me into accidents when pulling out
into fast moving traffic. My husband says it is turbo lag. Could be but it is becoming a deal breaker in my opinion! I have to floor it, and it moves but not the
quick response until seconds later then it goes but by then, it is too late to avoid the person behind you from getting pissed off as they have to slam on the brakes! This is at
roundabouts where you are expected to jump into the traffic and yes, you can sit there at a full stop and wait but that would defeat the purpose of a roundabout where you are supposed to merge
in fast and keep the line going. Anyway, these situations of no power upon take off are one concern.
The other is the lack of fully closing off the outside air when the heater/AC is one. Yes, it has the recirculation button which I use and in all other vehicles, this turns off
the outside air fully. The Equinox it still lets in some. This is bad for those of us sensitive to smells and when you get near a diesel or a classic car, it is
unbearable as the smell just pours in regardless. I have seen others complain on this as well. There must be a design flaw in there or? Or they simply made it
this way on purpose....
A few other things that annoy: Bad sound system, auto shut off, poor gas mileage, Hard to see the buttons during the day on the lower dash, column shifter design, and poor braking. That last one may be a warranty issue because I hear grinding in the front from time to time. 2,200 miles on it so not quite there yet for the service so I'm waiting for that in another 2 months if I keep it that long.
I know all new vehicles have their issues and I can overlook some but the turbo lag in this is a bear and the smells I cannot handle. Yuck!
