Proximity door unlock and rear hatch auto-open sensor not working.-Not the Fobs

Hi, recently the proximity door unlock when I have the fob in my pocket and press the door handle stopped working. Also, the rear hatch auto-open sensor is not working. I don't believe there is anything wrong with the fob(s) because I tried both. All of the buttons on the fobs work as they should. The exterior lights do flash when i try to unlock but nothing happens. I have not changed any settings in the screen. I also performed a factory reset from the screen. I'm thinking there must be something wrong with the module in the car the fobs communicate with. Has anyone experienced this issue? I'm taking it to the dealer this weekend.

Perhaps start the engine, then turn-off the door unlock and hatch auto-open feature via the control screen settings. Then turn the features back on and shut off the engine and allow the vehicle to lock as you walk away.

The return and try the proximity sensor door-open and the rear auto-open features? If this works, it may save a trip to the dealer.

I have had repeated software problems with my 2025 Equinox RS AWD and my 2024 Tahoe Premier, both purchased new. I’ve had features stop working (but not the ones you listed) and also features switching to a different operational mode (without my input) or screens not operating. The dealer has updated software several times.

GM has been selling new cars and trucks with KNOWN software defects, which has affected many owners. GM should be fined for selling new vehicles with the issues.

Thank you. I believe i've already tried that once, but i'll give it another shot before sitting at the dealer for several hours this Saturday. I'll also bring up the "not shifting into 8th gear" issue again to see if there is any news about a software update to "fix" that issue.

Ok, I went through the in screen settings and was able to get the proximity stuff working again. I am the only one driving my car and definitely did not change any settings when it stopped working. Must have been a software problem making a change without my input. Anyway, i've canceled my dealer appointment. I'll attempt to address the transmission issue at my next service appointment in a couple months.

The lock actuator may be your problem. I have had to replace all four door lock actuators on my 2019, the only one I didn't have to replace was the rear hatch. If that is your problem, try to replace it yourself because the dealer will want a small fortune.
