Looking at 2014 Equinox with the V6

I have a 2017 Equinox with the 2.4 and I am looking at getting a 2014 Equinox with the 3.6 V6. It has bout 86,xxx miles. Are there any typical issues with this engine like the 2.4 has? PCV system, piston rings, burning oil, etc.?

Piston rings and timing chain guides are usually due at about 100-125k miles. Budget $3-3.5k for timing parts/labor; more for the piston rings, because you might as well do the bearings if you have the engine out. Basically, a lower end rebuild.

Mine went at 126k miles. Did the timing chain/guides, put it back together and had an intermittent miss on #4 cylinder. Ended up having to take the entire engine back out to do the rings and bearings. Double the labor.

Provided it was maintained well, I would think ~86K miles is young for an LFX 3.6 engine. The engine would probably be the least of my concerns. Obviously with mechanical stuff, anything can happen, but I don't believe I've ever heard of a 3.6's needing bottom end or ring work. Stuck oil control rings due to GDI yes, Full timing chain, guide, tensioner replacements, definitely.

Has the transmission been drained/filled? AWD system? Hows the HVAC?

Has it seen rust belt life? That would be a major concern on a ~13yr/old vehicle.

On an LFX, LFY, LGX 3.6? I haven't seen, heard or experienced any examples of this. 4cyls, yes.

My 2013 3.6 still purred like a kitten when I traded it in at 350,000km. Never opened it up, except taking the intake off to change the spark plugs once. Manual says change plugs at 160,000km but at 200K they still looked like new.
