One of those ~$10 hood switch bypass harnesses off the Amazon machine was all that was needed to eliminate the auto stop/start on both my 2021 Equinox LT AWD and 2021 Traverse LS AWD. No check engine light, no stored codes that I can see, the "hood open" message still works when the hood is open and the remote start still works on my Equinox (don't have it on the Traverse).

-LOVE your username !!
Okay, my short answer is simply this: Never use the "D" position on the transmission selector.

We have had our 2019 now for three years, and it has become totally brainless habit for us to always use the "L" position. And assuming that you want to your transmission to automatically use all 6 speeds, then yes you need to press the "+" button five times so that the display on the instrument panel reads "L6".

I don't know where you got the wrong information that you need to shift back into drive?? -just leave it in L6, and you have the fully automatic six speed transmission like it should be, but without the stupid "stop/start" feature ever activating.

I was never eager to try the "wiring kit" that others have mentioned, but apparently it works fine for them. Guess that leaves the choice up to you. -personally I like the method without any alterations or modifications.

Let us know what you decide !!
Have you found that you waste more gas in “L” mode? I feel like the cartels accelerates much harder when I try this.

For me, there is no downside to disabling the Auto Stop/Start. A long time ago I installed the little wiring kit. So the whole stupid thing is now only a distant memory.
And there is likely a couple of upsides, such as both the starter and battery lasting longer. (the starter is a design unique to the start/stop feature, and it is EXPENSIVE!)

Using the "L6" method cannot affect acceleration. And in "the real world" it does not use more gas.

Hope this helps !!

My 2025 LT has a button to turn off the auto stop feature, but you have to do this every time you restart the vehicle. My wife often forgets.
Has anyone has installed a start stop disabler for a 2025 model that prevents having to push the button every time you start it?
