Twice in the last two weeks I had to do a panic stop to avoid hitting a deer that came out at last minute.
Both times the front tires slid. Came to a straight stop and I was able to avoid hitting the deer.
I have had the vehicle for over a year and this the first time I have had to brake that hard.
Never had a vehicle that locked up the front brakes with ABS.
Could there be a problem with ABS system?

The vehicle is a 2016 Equinox awd with 78,000 miles.
Has new Continental all season tires on it

Could be, should have abs light on if there's a problem. Could be a fractured rotor. If no dash lights, I'd inspect the brakes themselves.

When I had that problem it was the brake lines needed to be replaced. They were collapsing when the fluid should have been releasing the caliper piston.
