Wheel Locks Question!

I recently purchased a 2026 Equinox RS It came with 19 in Carbon Flash Metallic Machined Faced Aluminum Wheels. They all have wheel locks on them. They are not listed on the window sticker or does a charge show on my financing paperwork. From the research that I have done, the dealership puts them on when the vehicle arrives at their dealership. I located the wheel lock key in the glovebox, but not the four standard lug nuts. I've searched high and low and I was told by a few people that they should be in the car stored somewhere. They are nowhere to be had. My salesman seems to be vague about this issue. From what I read about the wheel locks, they can become a pain to take off and on, and many owners prefer to just use the standard ones. It looks like I will end up paying for four at a cost of $20. Has anyone experienced the same issue. Thanks...

I've never heard of the dealer including the 4 regular lug nuts they replaced with locking lug nuts. Usually you're stuck buying your own.

Thanks. I figured as much since I did not pay for the wheel locks, and they are more money than the standard ones.

I'd like to know who gets to keep the brand new factory take offs and something tells me they get re-sold as new. To me that ain't right. They should get bagged up and put in the vehicle's spare tire well or glove box.

You are correct. I talked to my brother in NY and his dealer told him that's exactly what they do where he lives. That's what my brother said, to search for them on the glove box and in the spare tire area and under the seats, I should have them in a box that the wheel locks came in. Oh well..

This is going back 10yrs or so, but on two new Subarus I bought back then, they had accessories installed by the Subaru distribution network (not sure if that's still a thing). One of the installed items was an auto dimming rear view mirror. The factory installed mirror that they yanked off was bagged up and tossed in the glove box. No wheel locks thankfully and this is coming from a guy who worked for McGard long, long ago. Great company back then.
