Hi,
My 2010 Chevy Equinox with only 125,000 km on it seems to be burning about 1.25L of oil (5w30) every 5000km, GM is telling me this is normal operation for this engine.

Is anyone else having this issue?

So that Is about a 1.3 quarts in 3100 miles? That is acceptable by todays standards. Lots of imports and domestics have the same type of burn off ratio as acceptable.

I have not added any to mine yet but have not driven it far enough.

What type oil? What brand?

Read a little on this site about oil burning off.

My 2010 Terrain has only 54000 km on it. I don't think yours should be burning that much either. I guess I would try a higher viscosity oil though. At least in summer there is no need for a 5w starting viscosity
