brake lights out

Change the fuse and bulbs. The bulbs work for day time running lights. But the brakes don't activate the brake lights. Before I changed the fuse for the brakes the cruise control wasn't working after I changed it the cruise control started working. Not sure how they are connected. 2006 Chevy equinox 120k miles ......any ideas guys ?

I have had my 07 NOX for 9 years and I put 5W30 Synthetic into it up until 150,000 miles. Never had any problem. Now, it is starting to consume about 1 to 1.5 quarts in 5000 miles. That has my attention. The 4 cylinder 2011's have an issue with oil consumption and I don't want the oil to drop low and stretch the timing chain. After 150,000, I am going to 5W30 conventional high mileage oil and changing the oil at 4000 miles.
