Ok, one of the first things we noticed was a nasty blind spot caused by the driver's side rear headrest.

Since the Nox has the generous sized double din factory HU, I figure a new unit with a screen and back up camera would be a cool and easy fix.

Has anyone done this? What did you use?

My Nox has the back up camera in the rear view mirror. But it might be easier to use a after market double din radio that comes with or supports a back up camera.

I am not certain you can add it to a factory radio.

So that is a factory set up? I wonder if that would be cheaper. I was looking at a Pioneer set up but between the head unit and the camera it was like $400

Yeah, its a factory set up. Let me see if I can find the parts break down list ti give you a idea. You would have to get the right mirror and camera.

Do you have radio controls at steering wheel?

Thanks. Nope, no steering wheel controls.

If that is required then I will probably just go aftermarket. I just figured If I could grab a camera and a mirror out of a jy or off of ebay for cheap, I'd go that route.

Otherwise I'll just do the pioneer set up.

I was looking at this head unit - Pioneer AVH-P1400DVD In-Dash 2-DIN DVD Receiver with 5.8 LCD for about $250

And this camera - Pioneer Nd-bc5 Universal Rearview Camera

Ok good... If you had steering wheel controls that would be just one more harness you would have to buy to keep those features...

Here is what I dug up for Parking assist from GM... I could not find the price for the mirror but it is looking the after market kits would be the way to go....

Doh... I didn't even think about GM PArts express. So embarrassed.....

Maybe I'll check with some of my buddies who are always junk yarding and see what they can dig up, otherwise that' Pioneer st up may be the ticket.

Don't be, even I forget about it sometimes.

I would call the dealer to get the part number off of the mirror and see if you can get a price off of the site.

I think the Equinox radios that are double din the screen is only set up for Navigation and the 2012's I think that the only difference would be that they will be streaming Pandora....

Yeah, the mirror would be fine, don't need the new radio. Although, some of the buttons are worn (which I understand to be a common issue) so a new one wouldn't be bad.

It's an 05 LS AWD. Guess I should get that added into the siggy. I'm used to my Bonnevilel forum where that is part of our profile LOL

The more I think about this, I still might see if I can find the mirro and camera set up from a yard. I like the challenge of incorporating the factory stuff. And, I always prefer mods to lok like they came from teh factory. Anyone can add an aftermarket head unit and camera.
