UPDATE to my brake wear sensors.
I have a 2025 Equinox that I purchased new a year ago and currently have 31,000 miles on it. Obviously, most of my miles are highway. The brake pad wear shown on the maintenance page info system said that I had only 20% left on my brakes so in 31k wore out 80% of my brake pads. Took the vehicle to the dealer to find out I had 90% left on my brake pads and the sensors were bad. The dealer replaced all 4 sensors and put on new pads even though I had 90% left on the old pads, which was fine with me. The dealer said when they replaced the brake wear sensors, and they wanted new pads on the vehicle for an accurate reading. All is supposedly good now.

I've got a 2019 Equinox with 93,000 and no noticeable wear on the rotors. I can't tell about the pads, but my service shop says everything is fine. Hoping for another 100,000. Good luck.

No they did not give me the old pads because it was covered under warranty. Dealers are not required to return old parts when covered under warranty

I have a friend with a Traverse and he has been complaining about the pads wearing out so fast. He recently found out that there is a good chance the problem is actually the sensors and not the pads.

I assume you lucky fellas don't live in the rust belt? For most of us, you're lucky to get 40K miles out of a set of pads/rotors unless you do a "brake service" yearly.

In terms of these "brake wear sensors", the sensor itself is only on one of the front pads. Nothing on the other 3 corners of the vehicle other than plain ol' brake pads. It's assumed all 4 corners will wear the same which we all know rarely happens.
