So the "service parking assist" message came on yesterday on my 2018 Chevrolet Equinox LT AWD? Any insight on this error message?

Unfortunately, it's all guesswork without having the issue diagnosed. My guess would be a bad proximity sensor on the rear bumper. Usually corrosion. Could be a chewed, chaffed wire as well.

So is your park assist just rear proximity sensors, and rear cross traffic detection? If thats the case, and it was just temporary, I wouldn't be too concerned. I get occassional errors for that, but mostly side detection errors. They are always temporary and don't even set a code (other than the display). Like PoManMax says it could be a failing sensor, or wiring issue, but it could be just a communication error (glitch).

Yea everytime I put it in Reverse gear, that error message "Service Park Assist System" comes on in the little center display by the speedometer and tachometer.

You need to have it scanned with a good code scanner that reads all series of DTC's
A "U" code DTC would suggest a communication error.
A "B" code would suggest a sensor or module error
