Anyone experienced this notification? just popped up on the screen and the AWD will not engage and the 2wd/AWD indicator is lit up yellow and says on the screen “service AWD system”
i had just run it through a car wash as i have many times, stopped to get gas, once restarting the message popped up.

Thanks

Just happened to my wife's LT yesterday. 6,612 miles.
well i went out to the garage about 6 hours later and started it up and it had gone away and the AWD would engage when i hit the button.
i have an appointment tomorrow at the dealer to have them look at it plus i need my oil changed anyways so if they find anything ill let you know… I’m no Mechanic but I’m guessing the undercarriage wash got something wet like a wheel sensor which set that off possibly

This is interesting as every undercarriage pic I've seen between 3rd and 4th gen, they both appear exactly the same, yet I've not heard of this problem with 2018-2024.

2025 LT AWD "Service All Wheel Drive System" notice and check engine light showed up at 6,600 miles. Took to dealer. Like I thought, it needs an AWD module replaced. Dealer had to order it. Might take a month to get. OK to drive. Will call when they have it. Equinox life goes on joyfully! 🙂

Update: Took my 2025 Equinox RS AWD to the selling dealer for the "Service All Wheel Drive System" dash warning and when vehicle parked in 2WD mode overnight, the system switches to AWD when the engine is restarted.

The technician said there were several codes in the system and the vehicle has a defective rear differential module. None in stock at the dealer, so one was ordered. The technician said several other 2025 Equinox AWD model had been in for service in the past few weeks with the same issues, and a module had to be ordered for each one.

Spoke to the dealer part’s department today. The 2025 Equinox AWD rear differential module is on national back order until at least October 13.

I had this happen to my 22 LT. It was an intermittent problem which I think is caused by tire pressure mismatch. My brother has a BMW and the mechanic told him that causes it.

In case you're wondering, the difference in tire pressure causes the wheels to rotate at different speeds and the computer gets confused.

Update on the “Service All Wheel Drive” message.

The module part ordered arrived earlier at the dealer than projected by GM and I had the vehicle repaired today at the dealer. It took a month for the part to arrive.

Module part #86285061 was installed and programmed. It is called a rear differential clutch control module.

The technician said it he made eight attempts to relearn the module system, but was unsuccessful. One the ninth try, he was able to relearn the module. This was noted on the repair invoice.

The repair invoice also noted that this repair was made under bulletin #25-na-165 and the code that was set was C11B7.

The AWD system now switches between 2WD and AWD quickly, while stopped or driving.

That module replacement seems to be the most common issue with the AWD. We needed it at around 8,000 miles and it's covered under warranty. It's taking a month to get the module after being ordered for most seeing this issue. Good dealers do good things for us!
