2011 Equinox a/c on at startup

Hey all. New here and thanks for having me.

Just purchased a single owner 2011 Equinox from a dealer. We enjoy the vehicle but I’m kind of perplexed:

It’s frigid here in Ohio and anytime I start the car, whether by key or remote start, the a/c shows as ‘on, and I have to manually click the knob to shut it off.

Is this normal? Anyone ever experience the same?

I have a 2011 doing the same thing. Just noticed it about 4 months ago. Don't remember it working like that before.
This car has a manual HVAC system in it. Every time I start the car, the A/C button is lite up. The only time it does not light up is when the fan switch is set to 0 or off. Just wanted to know if this is normal or not. Or is there a setting somewhere that I can change that?

Well, I have a '24 with an automatic HVAC system... so I can't compare our two systems or try to duplicate the issue. I also live in Florida, where I want the A/C to run 99% of the time. So unfortunately, I can't be of any help with this one. But now that this thread is back at the top, perhaps someone else will have some ideas.
