The above vehicle is my Dad's. Here's the problem.

When he starts the car almost all the dash lights come on and stay on. Once started he cannot move the steering wheel.

He will then turn off the car and restart it and the steering comes to life.

He has had the car into several Chevrolet dealers and none have been able to identify the problem. One even replaced the steering rack for $1000 and it did nothing to solve the problem.

I read about the 80 amp fuse in the engine compartment, but since the steering will work on the second start I have discounted that.

Anyone have any ideas what this could be?

Son trying to help.

Hi. I had identical dilema with my 08. Replaced the 80Amp fuse. Yay!! Works great. Maybe it will solve your problem too.

Hi. I know its a bit after the fact. My 08 Equinox was having the steering dilema mentioned above. Changed out the 80 Amp fuse. Good. Now the power steering goes out intermittently. I can still steer. Just very stiff and difficult, Any ideas?

You have elec boost steering. The rack is manual. If you have no elec boost steering then you for sure should have codes. And stabilitrak issues. And prob trac cntl too.

TERREPOWER 2030118 Remanufactured Info
Manual Steering; w/ Electronic Manual Steering $121

$121 rack and $890 labor to install. Haha

I replaced my elec boost unit and had stabilitrak error.
Found I had messed up torque angle setting
Then I couldn’t “center” steering wheel.
I need a $$$ code reader, for $1000
