I'll say this just once: I have driven highly luxurious SUV's and a personal Equinox for the last 7 years or so. The quiet ride and comfort isn't worth the 30 percent more you'll pay at each and every fuel pump for the other vehicles!
If your tiny Wedding Tackle demands that you drive a huge vehicle, but you have some common sense, get a darned transport van...
I've also driven the kind of vehicle that the rental kiosks don't advertise, or insure. I'll say this: that Itty bitty torque-y whip will get us in trouble PDQ.

Hey all -

I have a '25 Equinox with a little over 1.5k miles and I feel like this is the noisiest car ever on any type of pavement that isn't perfectly smooth.

Does anyone else think so too? Is it because I have the 19" wheels? I can't find a ton of reviews on the OEM Continental CrossContact RX tires, so I was thinking maybe it is that - and I'd be better off and much happier if I get a set of Michelins.

I am also coming from a truck, so it is entirely possible that I'm just dealing with being much lower to the ground and hearing more of the noise, but my wife's Traverse is whisper quiet over the same pavement with a set of Michelin Defender2 tires.

Other than that, I'm pretty happy with the car.
I have a 2025 Equinox RS, with less than 300 miles on it I had a whining noise and brought it to the dealer, they agreed and heard the noise. It was in the shop for 2 weeks, but they found the problem, wheel bearings were worn. Had to wait for the parts, but it was fixed, I have the continental cross track also 19”

Wow. At 300 miles those bearings are clearly defective. I wonder if those of us with noisy Equinoxes have the same problem? I notice the noise at speeds above 40 MPH. Was that your experience?

It's going to be an uphill battle to convince my dealer service department that this sound isn't normal (especially since many 2025s sound this way).

I don’t notice this on ours with the Contis and I’m pretty sensitive to any kinds of noises or vibrations. Now, if you told me an alternate would get 5 more mpgs I’d be very interested

I can recommend the Michelin Xice tires for longevity, traction and quietness.
I second this reco - have been using these for years and they outwear my summer tires. Plus the winter weather traction is outstanding.

One thing you are not told when buying a new car is that OEM equipment tires do not have the same tread depth you would get buying those tires from a tire dealer. I replaced the Michelins that came on my Equinox in less than a year due to problems of road noise and traction
How many miles did you have on those Michelins? I've got 2k on the tires that came with the car, but I've noticed a lack of traction on wet pavement. I was actually like wth because they're basically new tires. I'm leasing so it might not make sense to buy new tires. However, I am concerned and will be asking the dealer about it.

Our 2018 Equinox 1.6 Turbo diesel had been at the dealer more than a year when we bought it late April 2018. I think it had over 4k miles on it at that time. Certainly it also had done a lot of sitting around. it was a January ice storm where the AWD and traction control plus antilock was completely useless even though I was moving at less than 10 mph. This led to my checking tread depth and then going to my favorite tire shop about the Michelins on the car. They told me about OEM tires and showed me the codes on the tire sidewall that showed it was special production tires for Chevrolet OE. I think the depth was around 5. We did not change them right away even though Minnesota is one place you do need winter tires. I researched what tire might be best for awhile and changed them out late fall 2019. Car now has about 50K miles on it and brand new winter tires installed 2 weeks ago. Come next spring I am going with a second set of wheels with summer quiet comfort ride tires so road trips will be more enjoyable. Driving a vehicle that can get 35-40 city mileage and up to 60 highway can be fun!

Very interesting. Thanks for the tip about the OEM tires. I'm gonna look for that type of code. Seems like we have two totally different situations so now I suspect they'd be fine but still concerned about the quality.
Those mileage numbers, are you saying 35-40 miles per gallon?? Is that because it's using diesel?

Yes it is a 1.6L turbo diesel. My latest fillip was 14.5 gallons and 570 miles driven in the city. On road trips it has gotten 60 once and regularly get 50-55 highway MPG. So smoke. No smell. No extra noise just great power and great mileage.
