100,000 mile service

I’m new here, 82 yrs. I’m very fond of my 2019 Premiere, 2L Turbo.
I did most of the 100K service myself.
Change trans fluid mechanic said it should have been 50K.
Brake sys. fluid change. Had 3 quotes: $150, $130, $30 Great job 30 minutes.
Because of road noise I replaced the hubs with AC DELCO GOLD HUBS. Also new GOOD YEAR WRANGLER tires. Now the road noise is 100% better.
I buy the AC DELCO DEXOS1 and WIX FILTERSin EBay, 5qt jug for <$50. Our Quick Lube charges $30. Including inspection and tire pressures.
I’ve replaced 2 TPM tire pressure monitors with EBay units, and use our local shop to install. Also rotate tires at 50K miles.
* Now I’m puzzled. The engine oil was black when I changed it yesterday! Anyone having this? Ty in advance.

Color of the oil does not correlate to how much life is left in the oil. It just says that the oil is working by removing dirt and contaminates from the engine. The only way to determine how much life is left is to do a used oil analysis which requires you to send a sample to a ship that does the UOA.

Ty. One thing, I always use WIX GOLD oil filters. At my last service a brand X filter was used. I’m used to having difficulty seeing the oil on the dip stick.

I very much understand the value in a UOA. I've been participating with the maniacs over at BITOG for over 20yrs. They're useful in gathering data for a specific problem, etc.

Thing is, for an Equinox 2.0T or 1.5T, wouldn't you rather put that $30-40 towards an oil change? I don't really care what the UOA states on a small GDI'd turbo engine. I wouldn't recommend exceeding 5k miles between OCIs.

BITOG, UOA? I’m going to take your advise! Oil life % could be 8K miles
