Thanks. I learned there is a way, but it's not a GM way. It's basically 3rd party stuff that works off Bluetooth and their app, but I've found nothing that mimics the GM remote natively.

Can your phone serve as a remote without OnStar? Some cars you can, and even send a digital key to someone else so they can access and drive your car permanently or temporarily. Does the 3rd gen Equinox have anything similar?

3-4 amps is a lot. My 2020 Premium 2.0 has every option and it pulls 79-92 milliamps, e.g. always less than 1/10th of an amp.
