Undercarriage rust repair - prevention.

I'm doing some steel repairs where needed underneath the vehicle, and wire brushing, & knocking loose rust scale before applying some coatings. I've heard good reviews on the Pbblaster undercoating spray. I also have some used motor oil i could make use of in the right places but Would likely mix it with something stickier. Ive never done any diy undercoating but I have had it done a few times since buying the vehicle. Just wondered what other folks are doing. Also tips on protection when applying sprays. Get a face shield, filter masks? Lay plastic or old tarps under to catch drips?

I use Woolwax and Fluid Film on my vehicles and apply these products myself. I try to do it during the summer because woolwax applies easier when its warm and it gives the product time to creep into all the nooks and crannies, to dry slightly and setup better. I like woolwax for surfaces and FF for cavities. I have the spray guns kits for these products.

On my projects, I have used a more conventional rust converting paint from Eastwood.
