ABS/TC code clearing

I have an ‘06 Equinox that had an issue with the antilock brakes kicking on at 6mph while stopping. I took the wheel speed sensors off and cleaned them with electronic contact cleaner and wire brush. This fixed the issue but after replacing them my ABS and traction control lights turned on. Diagnostic scan tool would not let me clear the code to turn the lights off. Any suggestions how to clear this code or do I need to completely replace sensor? Code number C0040 for wheel speed sensor.
