I am new to this group and to Chevy cars in particular the Equinox models. I have a few questions about this particular car.

Unlike my previous cars, I noticed when driving this car, I am going 60-65 for speed, the RPMs are about 2.5 but I don't know if that is considered normal for this car or not. My other cars stayed around 2 for RPMs when going 60+ for speed. Yes, I am aware of every car is going to be different in terms of the engine and related parts.

This is my first car where it has the "auto stop" feature. I know this feature is controlled by sensors to turn it off/on but my question is what happens if the sensors fail or stop working. What happens if the "auto stop" is active and the car doesn't come out of it?

Overall I am happy with this car. I hope this car is reliable and minor issues over time.

I'll have to check my RPMs the next time I'm on the highway. I want to say that mine is around 2.5 when doing around 70-75 mph (that's with the 1.5 turbo 4 cylinder, and 6 speed trans).

As for the auto-stop "feature", you'll hear a lot of opinions on that in here. Personally, I hate it and I have disabled it by installing a simple pigtail device under the hood. Cost me about $12 bucks, and I never have to worry about it again. This is the one that I bought:

You need to make sure that you get one that is listed for your specific year. There are MANY different ones available.

Welcome to the forum, I hope that you enjoy your new 'Nox!

Thanks for the response. So, this car is operating as it should when it is on the highway? Another words, when the speed is 65-70 then the normal range for the RPMs is 2.5. Obviously, the car is a AWD LT, 1.5 engine model.

Yesterday on the other forum you said you would take a closer look at the RPMs on the way home from work.
How did that go?
