Replacing rear brakes on premiere with electronic parking brake . Any special procedure because of the electric parking brake that I need to be aware of ? Or just wind in the piston like I’ve done on many rear brake jobs before ?
I’ve seen some stuff online about having to use scanner. When replacing rear brakes but don’t know if it applies to equinox . Thanks in advance

AI says the scan tool is optional, but im not sure if you can trust it. Video showing what to do with the scan tool. My tool does not have this feature.

see this thread from PoManNox. It sounds like he knows the other way to do it without the tool.

Thanks for the info my friend this was my first encounter with the caliper mounted actuator’s. Got a scanner and retracted the parking brake actuators did the brake job as normal and then used scanner tool to extend the actuator’s . All good done and test drove all good . Thanks again .

I removed the actuators and used a torx bit to thread the pistons in on my 2021 Equinox when I did the pads and rotors all the way around on it a few months ago. I didn't even unplug the electrical connectors to the actuators. I left everything plugged in. I did have to tweak the hard lines a bit on the rear calipers to be able to gain access to some of the torx screws on the actuators. No big deal. Just a slight reposition.
