2011 Equinox with Auto/Manual Tranny

When in manual mode starting off in M1, it won't move into higher gear when pushing the + button. When in automatic, it shifts through the gears normally with no problem. When driving in auto, then shifting into Manual, it will find and indicate the proper gear in the DIC. When pushing the + or - button, it will not go into a higher or lower gear. Is the shifting up or down controlled by a module that needs to be replaced, or possibly a wire coming loose? Any info/suggestions for a fix would be appreciated.

Reviewing the Transmission shift lever schematics on diyalldata.com. The connector is a 6 pin connector that looks like a U. On the right side of the U is pin 1. Pin 3 is the signal wire for the tap up/down for manual shifts. If you are handy check the pin and wire to see if anything is obviously wrong. If that doesn't work then it may be a larger job. For example I would test the continuity between that pin and the corresponding connector to the ECU as a start.
