Looking to add a new Equinox to the family V6 vs 4 cyl

Another option available in 2018 was the 4 cylinder duramax diesel. There's a handful on cars.com - diesel may be the best of both worlds for reliability and fuel economy. (I'm still in the V6 camp though ;-)

Looking to add a new Equinox to the family V6 vs 4 cyl

I've had two in the 2006-2008 range and both had the 3.4L v6 (this is the same 3.4L v6 Acura and Honda produced for the Saturn VUE) the 2006 consumed a little oil (about a quart between oil changes and it lasted 200,000+ miles before I sold it) that was so I could get the 2008 Pontiac Torrent...

    Air bag sensor

Well, $89 later (what Dave Ramsey calls my 'stupid tax') the techs at the dealership identified that the wrong SRS sensor is the one I installed. The right one has a numeric code that should match up on the body. (my bad, don't let it happen to you!) both front end sensors are physically...

    Air bag sensor

Well, my 2006 Equinox threw an airbag code at me so after doing my due diligence on YouTube I got over to O'Reilly Auto parts (they try to price match RockAuto and got within 5 bucks of the before shipping price this time for me). Swapped the module (with the battery completely disconnected) and...

I got Rims! And traction control issues...

So, my 06 Equinox managed to wear through 80,000 mile tires in about 65,000 miles and rather than dropping another $600 on replacement tires I found a guy with an 05 Equinox he was parting out and for $200 scored 17" rims and tires with less than 1000 miles on them and thought I'd scored a major...

    Oil Consumption

Sounds crucial! My 06, I noticed, loses about 2 quarts between oil changes and I've been using Lucas Oil Stop Leak every oil change. First noticed it around 166K miles back in 2016 and I'm turning 200K soon now. The mechanic did a chemical engine flush to fix any carbon problems but I didn't...

    2006 Equinox issues

the saga continues! Well, I think I'm officially a weekend wrench turner! I ended up paying the mechanic to fix the fan fault and replace the stuck valve that was giving evaporative emission codes. They also used a chemical flush to clean out all the carbon that had collected...

    2006 Equinox issues

The other thing I'm asking more for the benefit of many is the 200,000 mile maintenance list. When I bought it I did plugs and wires. (shocks, struts, front springs, a couple wheel bearings, and all 4 brakes). Thinking i should do the serpentine belt and belt tensioner. (belt is indicative of...

    2006 Equinox issues

Yes, Shaggy, I changed the oil and filter after I got back (October) this past weekend I changed it again with some engine flush stuff and added LucasOil StopLeak this time (haven't been consistent, thinking it's going to be a regular thing now though). My question is more about the annoying...

    2006 Equinox issues

Hey, y'all. So I picked up a 2006 equinox about 4 years ago and have put on an additional 40K miles to the unassuming 152K it had then- I did my due diligence and ran SeaFoam through it on the first oil change, used some LucasOil StopLeak on every third or so oil change and have been...
