So, my 06 Equinox managed to wear through 80,000 mile tires in about 65,000 miles and rather than dropping another $600 on replacement tires I found a guy with an 05 Equinox he was parting out and for $200 scored 17" rims and tires with less than 1000 miles on them and thought I'd scored a major win. Then, on my daily commute, the engine throttled back and the traction control light came on- dropped speed by about 20mph and then the light cut out and the throttle was responsive again. This happened a couple more times then I realized that if I disable traction control the problem goes away. Any ideas? I'm almost to 200,000 miles and don't feel like going to the dealership! (I always want to buy a car there and have to outrun the salespeople!)

Read the codes, probably a wheel speed sensor. It will make your traction control light come on

17” 2005 five spoke wheels? Ugh. Kinda ugly. But, new tires for 200 is ok. I found a so so set of 18” nox wheels/tires last week at yard. $80 with today sale. But, tires are not great.

My 08 has random lights too. I have egr code 0405? And I know that triggers abs/trac lights. I changed egr and code is gone. But I still have fuel tank pressure error. Which is sensor on tank or cracked poly line or other things. I’ve had 5-6 noxs to flip and most had abs issues.

junkyard has super sale today. I’m getting radio, taillights, more egr valve, and MAYBE abs module. Kind of a bear to remove abs module under fuse block assy90D2B519-41AE-4C42-947C-537F50A25023.jpeg

EGR is an easy one. If you have a bad wheel sensor it will set off traction control.
