USB cord connection

When I connect my iPhone with the usb connection it will play for about 3 seconds and then stop but if my wife connects her iPhone it plays fine.
Is there a sync that needs to be done either in my car or iPhone?

Are you using an Apple branded power cable or a generic one? I have read posts by owners of 2018's that it seems to work fine if it's an Apple power cable but generic ones seem to cause problems. We have no problems with our iPhones but we're both using Apple power cables.

Thanks for this - having weird problems with cord as well and hoping an Apple power cord solves it!
