08 equinox. Awd, of course. Been chasing driveline clunk forever. New struts. Links. Noticed if I push car forward/reverse it clunks and sound is coming from t-case output area. I put ink marks on driveshaft and cv joint and they move together. 90% sure it’s inside t-case. Ugh. Just put in used motor too. I suppose few folks have replaced t-case here?

Removing driveshaft will uncouple front axle/rear axle. As test

How many miles on the vehicle? Is the T-case making any noise? There is always going to be some play in the output of the T case. I don't know how much is too much.

If the T case isn't howling or has no signs of failure, I'd leave it alone.

Did a transfer case on a 2004 Cad. SRX years ago. Common problem was the chain would stretch in the transfer case and when starting off the chain would jump the sprockets.Sounded like someone in trunk trying to get out. Got quote from stealership for $ 25-3500. Ordered chain and sprockets for $300 and did it myself. 4 jack stands and 6 hrs later was done. Not bad
