I'm not sure if it's a normal noise for these LFX engines or something just unique to the Equinox. The sound picks up with acceleration then goes away. No noticeable performance drops or anything of the sort. It has 109k miles on it now, but no timing chain rattles and the service history shows it was well cared for.
