The u-joint failed and you have to remove u-joint to then remove carrier bearing. Bit of a pain. I’ve heard you can replace the staked u-joint if ur talented. Bit of work.

Took my u-joint apart. There were no needle bearings in right side cup. Shaft was a bit rusty too. The left side has heavy gouges but the bearings were there. Cause of my vibration I reckon. I replaced driveshaft. This one is scrap.

Took out driveshaft and my vibration went away. Center bearing is fine. Seems tight. Found a used drive shaft at junkyard for $25. Might as well try it. Has return policy so it’s only my time. Seems to drive ok now. Always had a center console vibration. But no shake/shimmy on road. Few months...

Found an 06 and seller says it has cracked head. and new wp and thermostat. Used to overheat. But is ok now. 80 mi away. Unknown miles. Then I found one w/113k miles and same issue but 20 mi away. Might go see it and look for subframe issues.

the wiper cowl area has to drain water somehow. I’ve never heard of issues from this “trough”. Maybe use a hose to soak this area and see where water drains? I tried to clean salt stains from carpet in this area yesterday. The sill carpet is really hard/crusty. But dry.

a chain job is 1500-2000? A new motor is $5k. I hear lots of stuff on how poor the 3.6 is. it works now? Ok suv is worth more. it has chain issues? It’s worth less a rig with used ok motor is worth same as one with new motor. I assume mechanic thru out repair costs?

How long have you owned it? the 3.6 does have chain issues and most shops don’t like to deal with comebacks.

My 06 I just got has newer struts. I can see old stickers on shock top. It has a good click/clunk on bumps. I changed struts on previous equinox to fix same issue. But, I didn’t change he strut mounts. Dumb move. So I got to take struts apart twice.
