The thermostat gauge is showing increased "heat", about middle on the gauge but not overheating...Surge? As in RPM increasing? It has on a couple of occasions....could it be related to spark plugs at all? --or full tune up?

Hi all. Well, getting increasingly frustrated by these issues and the impossible task of finding someone who can actually fix it. So, if a thermostat is bad....does that cause and drivability issues? Will the EVAC system problems cause any symptoms of "rough" shifting or jerking? EGR valve...

I am calling a friend's mechanic tomorrow to see if he can fix the problems. I have the error codes and everything so hopefully he can fix it based on those findings. I will surely keep you appraised. I hope this will fix the problems.

Ok. Good to know. Can the problems with the EVAC cause rough shifting or symptoms similar to that? I do smell excessive gas from time to time.

The fun continues. I took my car into a tranmission shop as it is still having shifting issues after the one place replaced the speed sensor. The following error codes came up: PO128 Coolant Thermostat, PO404 EGR (I think) Feed Back, Single out of range, PO442 EVAC small leak, PO449 EVAC sys...

What is reflash? I did take it to a transmission shop and they put a diagnostic machine on it...that's when the error code came up....no signal--engine speed circuit (or something)..then I took it to the mechanic who did diagnostic and came up with the speed sensor....

I know. The sensor was replaced but the same symptoms are still there...no improvement whatsoever....so I am sort of baffled..unless they just did not replace it...

Yes, good idea. I just don't know enough myself to really troubleshoot it well. I just replaced front rotors, passenger side ball joints, both end links, fuel pump, speed sensor and now it needs something else...toe/cam something in the back...I think the person who had it before just did not...

Hi. I was told the fuel filter does not need to be replaced before the fuel pump goes out...as it is suppose to be inside the fuel pump....at least that is what I was told....any ideas?
