I did this to mine and it worked just fine. I put a 1/8" hole towards the center of the car towards the very bottom edge worked perfectly

I had this same problem with my 2005 and it was the way gm put the sunroof together the seams needed more silicone. The water would run down the rlheadliner in behind the panels and soak the trunk and floor

I know this may be an old thread but my 2005 equinox is getting worse with its starting problems and 500$ is a lot to spend on a pump that may not fix the problem. Did this fix ur problem ?
