I got my vehicle used, but lucky for me I did some research and found out about the PCV orifice before any issue.... until my son sat idling in the car for hours in 100 degree heat and the a/c on. Lucky for me I'd put this oil cap on 2 weeks prior.
It did its job - lol. Blew oil all over the...
1. Replacing the oxygen sensors, before they throw a code can save a catalyitc converter. I suggest you change both out. One is behind or beside the engine, the other near the catalyic converter. The one by the engine is easy to get to and replace. The other is DIY too, once you get under the...
Bang on your starter with a screw driver or little hammer or something. A lot of times that will kick off a dying starter at least once.
DO NOT buy starters from Auto Zone. Their manufacture makes lemons.
Also check your spark plugs. Check your relay's in the fuse box and fuses.
You have both a Crankshaft Position Senor and a Camshaft Position Senor the latter you can for sure do yourself. I haven't had to do the crankshaft sensor yet. All I know is it's under the vehicle.
Just get the OEM sensors whether from Rock Auto's website or dealership or other parts store...
It's your Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor - you have to pull the air intake manifold to get to the fuel rail if it's like my car. Unless you have a V6, we have the same engine.
While you're on the fuel rail, you might as well change out your fuel injectors while you're there if you have over 80k on...
Have you kept up with transmission fluid changes? While the old days they recommended every 60k miles, it's more like 40k now days.
Have you kept up with cleaning out your PCV orifice? That buggar can cause all kinds of hell. If you have a 10mm socket, I can tell you how to clean that baby out...
And Endoscope aka borescope is an awesome tool to have around if you're so inclined to get one.
Keep us updated on your progress. I wish you the best of luck!!
If you need to know how to clear the pcv orifice, I'm happy to help with that. I'm not knowledgeable on the area you're speaking of or...
Is there a reason you can't go to home depot, lowes, ace hardware and just get a screw clamp?
Hardware clamp example <- link to HD
Or
Try a salvage yard or pick-a-part salvage place.
Or
Can the dealer give you the original part number or dimensions of the hose? They probably have a hose that...
You may have figured it out by now but Rock Auto has good prices on the Walker brand and it OE approved. They have a claim it will get rid of codes. Walker cats are supposed to be top of the line.
I have been all over the place researching this oil burning. It's not just GM, it's lots of makers. It's the jacked piston rings they knew were jacked and kept using.
It's also partly the GDI system - also in other makes.
It's also partly the PCV system.
There's a fella on this forum who took...
Hello, don't mean to butt in (I am on topic though), but @SYDNESB I saw your post on another forum regarding the 2.4 Ecotec camshaft baffles revealed or something like that. All that fabulous info in the pdf you created is beyond words. Thank you so much. I have a question if you don't mind...
