I haven't really been able to find much, but are there any mods that can be done to enhance the performance of this blistering 175hp sprinter we have? I'm liking the Equinox, but it sure is a shame this engine is the only option. Just figured there had to be something out there to help us squeeze a bit more out of it.

Best mod I found was to trade it in on a Blazer with a V6 :ROFLMAO:

I've adjusted to life without the 3.6 and am satisfied with the 1.5. I feel any performance mods you find won't likely be enough to make it worth doing. I painted my calipers red, it makes it look like it's going faster than it is LOL

I feel you there. I thought about painting my calipers also. I was going to go for the Blazer or Traverse, but the wife won out wanting good gas mileage. Oh well, I like the Equinox. I just have to learn to love it. Lol

From the Auto Stop/Start to the super lightweight oil and the minuscule 1.5L turbo in this SUV looking car, it all screams economy platform. Shoe-horned into the Chevrolet lineup it's sole purpose in life is to skew the CAFE numbers so Chevy can sell things like the Corvette or Silverado 3500 crew cab long bed without running afoul of mandated fuel efficiency targets. Performance mods really aren't in the cards for these very popular fuel sippers. Give it a wax, spray on some tire shine and enjoy the ride as is. With all the money you'll save get a nice little project car you can pump up.

Exactly right. The way the Chevy lineup is constructed, for the smallest SUV you have the Trax... A same size SUV, but with more power and options, is the Trailblazer for more money. Similarly The Equinox is the next larger model in size and price as well as most popular... You want the same physical size as the Equinox but with more engine options and costing more you go for the Blazer. Why do people keep trying to make the Equinox into something it is not. For my purposes I find the 175 horsepower and 203 ft pounds of torque to be plenty... Why the endless discussion on this?

Seems interesting. Not that cheap, but I guess anything that would make a noticeable difference is going to cost a bit more. Do you have any experience with this mod?

I also came across this guy on Youtube and checked out his store.

He does tuning as well, but also offers several physical mods for the Equinox. I'm thinking of maybe getting the wastegate to start since it seems to be a part on this vehicle that has issues. The bigger turbo also seems worth considering, but it's a pricey upgrade.

I really don't mind everything as it is now. It is peppy enough for commuting around town and the gas mileage is pretty good so I'll probably just stick to cosmetic upgrades here and there for now.

Have you checked the specs on the new 2.5l for the new traverse.? 328HP and 326 ft. lbs.

Beginning with the 2022 Equinox, only the 1.5 L turbo has been available. From what I read, only 5 to 10% of Equinox buyers opted for the larger engine. Hence it was discontinued for lack of demand. You want bigger engine options? Buy a Blazer. Now that they're putting a CVT in it for 2025 FWD version, the tranny couldn't take any more torque if you modded the engine anyway. The specs show that they downgraded the torque output of the current engine when they put the CVT in the 2025.

I've been considering that for my 2.0 T.
Seems that is safe and reliable
