Hope someone can give me some insight into my broken fuel line problem.

Recently purchased a 2007 AWD LT with 3.4L. Somehow the plastic connection where the plastic fuel line turns to metal is cracked and broken. I suspect a rock may have hit the plastic connector and broken it.

I was towed to a garage where the mechanic did a temporary fix using zip ties to hold the fuel line connected. Upon further investigation the mechanic advised that the plastic connector can't be replaced own its own. Rather the entire fuel and fuel pump are one piece. This would require dropping the fuel tank, replacing fuel line and fuel pump at a cost of $750 in parts and 4 hours labour.

I found a fuel line repair kit at NAPA for $20 but the mechanics are uneasy and not confident if will hold the pressure.

Anyone else had this problem?
