Day time running light Canada law

I took a look at the 2005 model lighting schematics in my service manual. Assuming little has changed with DRL's between '05 and '22 aside from the DRL-OFF ability, and without describing the likely modification, either the service department knows of this action required or, they have a...

07 equinox cranking but wont start. New starter and battery not even 2 months old.

This sounds similar to another members issue. In his case, he found a seemingly unrelated blown fuse that fixed the problem. I took a look in the service manual and found a number of fuses that are directly related to powering the Body Control Module, or are for systems that must positively...

Very important information for turbocharged engines.

Wow! What a great price from a dealership! Obviously not in California where everything is inflated. They must have read that oil filter flash and took it to heart.

Very important information for turbocharged engines.

Yes, the departue from the artwork over the past couple of decades in favor of the latest style leads me to believe that the canister that came from the factory as well as subsequent new cans may have been upgraded. Out of curiosity, I may try and get one of the newer looking cans and compare it...

Very important information for turbocharged engines.

That Purolator certainly is listed as an equivalent to the UPF64R. Looking at the PF64 you removed, it's gone through an artwork change from those that preceeded it. I wonder if GM just quietly upgraded the 64 to at or near UPF standard. Thanks for showing the original. Here's a picture of...

    Electrical issues, need help

As said by cavell above and please at the very least, use compression splices with the right crimping tool. Those wires should be red colored splice.

Very important information for turbocharged engines.

I read that the main upgrades in the UPF were heavier canister for higher oil pressures, greater density in the filter element and the hi temp silicone back-flow valve. I wonder if GM went ahead and eventually replaced the original rubber valve in the PF, or across the board in favor of silicone?

Very important information for turbocharged engines.

If you have a turbocharged engine in your Equinox, or any other GM vehicle, compare the oil filter installed to the suggested (insisted) filter in the owners manual. If the filter is not the same, replace it with the correct listed filter as soon as possible. I have a first gen Equinox and a...

    2021 equinox premier turbo fail

Have you tried to escalate the issue back to Chevrolet? Also, for a small fee, you may want a lawyer to look the contract over with an eye toward the dealers reason for not honoring.

2007 Equinox Rear Hatch Won't Open

Hello, If the other door lock actuators operate, the fuse is likely good but, replace it anyway. I have seen fuses experience near operate current, not open but become resistive thus, limiting current. The other lock actuators may still operate, but sound weak. The fuse block is on the forward...

    No crank after replacing starter.

It turns out that there are a couple of circuits that need to give the "go ahead signal" to the PCM to allow the grounding of the starter relay. I guess best practice should be to check every underhood fuse in a no crank situation. Good info to know, thanks for blazing the path.

    No crank after replacing starter.

Interesting story, I'm going to look into my service manuals schematic diagrams tomorrow to see why that fuse makes sense as a failsafe for the starting circuit. (or not) Thanks, Brad

    No power and engine hesitation

I had a similar problem that popped up out of nowhere exactly as you described, and it is pretty dramatic as the ECM tries to correct for the issue on the fly. In my case it was a faulty #5 cylinder spark plug wire. I see you changed yours but it may be possible for a marginal coil pack to...

Intermittent and simultaneous abs and traction control lights started flashing 2006 EQ.

I had a similar problem that occurred when I would turn right and into a steep driveway that caused a bit of flexing of the front suspension. It cleared with a freesh start-up but returned under flexing again. For unrelated reasons, I had the front and rear hubs replaced at 200k miles just...

    Head gasket opinion?

It looks like the color of the coolant sealant that Chevrolet put in at the factory. Why only the exhaust valve is tainted? Anyone's guess. I hated that stuff, it cloggd the heater core easily. and coagulated at the drain port on the radiator, reqiring probing with a firm piece of plastic to...

    Head gasket opinion?

Water intrusion in that suspect cylinder, most of the carbon has been steam blasted and likely from the piston as well. Best to have both heads validated by a machine shop. We have the 7th ever made, '05 and both banks leeched water requiring head jobs. The car has been great ever since with...

    Oil change to full synthetic

I have many good results related to MOBIL 1 full synthetic in all of my vehicles. I use the 20,000 mile version and I swear by it. Additionally, always use the maunfactures recommended or insisted (in the case of turbo charged engines) oil filters. Some substituted off-brands are real garbage.

    Door unlock issue

After looking through the service manual, the problem can be the transmission selector position switch contact for Park, the wire between the transmission selector position switch and the Body Control Module (BCM), and possibly the need for the BCM to be reprogrammed, (if it had been replaced...

    2005 Overheating

Agree with GKALA completely but let the machine shop make the determination. A lot of early 05's had this combustion to water jacket exchange issue. In our case, the heads were resurfacable. Still running great with 210+ K miles on it
