I am experiencing a rattling noise in my dashboard on the passenger side of my vehicle. Any suggestions as to what it may be? The vehicle has around 3,700 miles on it and it's still under warranty. I don't want to take it in right away because I want to see if it will go away. Also I am afraid if they take the dashboard apart, I will end up with more problems. Does anyone know what this may be or have any ideas to fix this problem?

That is really weird. My 2010 does not do that as of yet but I would take it in and get it resolved right away. It could be a quality malfunction that they need to amend on the line. It wouldn't hurt to take it right in.

You should take it in ASAP.

What most people normally don't know is that squeeks and rattles are usually only repaired under warranty while the vehicle is still in its "Adjustment Period" which is usually 12mo/12k. After that, if the tech doesn't find an actual broken part- you could be stuck paying the bill for the tech's diag time and spend $100's on a peice of felt tape wedged in between two peices of trim. Get it in early, get it logged in your warranty/repair history so that when and if you do have a recurrance of this noise while outside of the adjustment period, prior repair history will help you get this covered again.

Just some food for thought.

2 days after I got my terrain I had a rattle, I found it when I was looking in the glove box I found that the flashlight I had in there was hitting a container of breath mints.
I kid you not, took out the breath mints and rattle was gone.
2nd one was radar detector plug in console.
3rd one was a bad of some stuff I had got at the store and left in the back.

I would look just to make sure it's not just something you put in there, I can hear stuff that in most cars would not be heard.

O and I do get a few pops and creaks out of the dash sometimes when I first start driving.

I, too have the rattle described in this thread. Mine is intermittent, so naturally when I take it to the dealer it will not rattle! I visited today and let him listen to the rattle that we recorded with the iPhone while out driving around. I told them I wanted it to be documented to that they know it is an ongoing issue since new.

Take it to the dealer, after usually 12 month/12 500 miles these rattles are not covered but if they are caused by a defect part.

Do you hear the rattle when the dash is hot from being in the sun, or when it is cool? You may need to leave it at the dealer overnight and let them take it for a drive in the morning when the car is still cool.

I should probably listen for rattles too at some point. I usually have the radio up so never really notice anything unless its really high pitch and persistent.
